Research and Innovation Strategy

Our Research and Innovation Strategy sets out how we will drive forward our legacy and make sure we continue to support extraordinary research.

The strategy focuses on three main areas:

  • Research: We have created three focused missions based on our established excellence and ambitions: to shape the future health and care; to harness the power of data, digital and AI for the public good; and to tackle the climate and environmental crisis.
  • Engagement: We are forging new partnerships within academia and with public policy and industry to stretch our research into the most relevant areas, unlocking innovation and accelerating the application of solutions to the world’s biggest challenges.
  • Environment: Research and innovation at Edinburgh is a team effort. Our breakthroughs and successes – from discovery science to spin-outs – are the result of the cumulative excellence of our technicians, professional services and researchers. Everyone will be supported to do extraordinary work at Edinburgh.
